Stop Indoor Air From Breeding Germs and Mold
A UVC Emitter can avoid this. Is your HVAC system a reservoir of microorganisms amplifying and making their way into the air you breathe? Your family’s health depends on keeping the inside air clear of these culprits. These organisms can restrict airflow and limit important heat transfer, thus ultimately this increases the cost of energy and equipment breakdowns.
The U.S. Environment Protection Agency says we average about 90% of our life breathing indoor air. Your air could be filled with pollutants two to ten times higher than outdoor air! What about your home? Business? Modern airtight buildings can trap contaminants. Your air conditioning system circulates these over and over, spreading allergens, pollutants, virus and bacteria.
In fact, some fear this could become a new ‘asbestos’ type scare.
A Steril-Aire UVC Emitter® Can Improve Health
- SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome)
- Staph (staphylococcus aureus)
- MRSA (a strain of staph)

Many manufacturers have been developing and offering these UVC add-ons. One of the leaders in the industry is Steril-Aire®. The EPA reported the Steril-Aire UVC devices achieved 99.96% destroy rate in a single pass over of airborne bacteria, 99% on viruses and 96% on spores.
Benefits Derived From a UVC Emitter System
Cleaner, healthier air – The CDC reports that nearly 100,000 Americans die every year from hospital acquired infections, thus causing most medical facilities to install UVC systems to prevent bacteria producing agents.
Improved HVAC performance – Because the system continuously cleans coils, drain pans and ducts, there is less need for manual cleaning, or the use of harmful chemicals.
An easy to install, cost-effective solution – Another plus is UVC emitters can be installed in most HVAC systems by an experienced technician.
Prolongs the life of your HVAC equipment
Significant energy Savings – Your energy bill is lowered by improving your HVAC system heat transfer, therefore increasing net cooling capacity and reducing pressure drops across cooling coils.
Lives Being Saved With Steril-Aire UVC Emitters®
Around the world, hospitals, laboratories, schools, government facilities, offices and homes use Steril-Aire emitters. They rely upon UVC technology to enhance food safety through mold and bacteria control. For example, this extends product shelf life and production yields. Uncontrolled diseases cause an even higher risk in hospitals, day cares and other industrial and commercial facilities. Livestock areas and veterinary clinics also are at risk. Thus they welcome the addition of UVC.
One clear example is the use of UVC lighting added to the overhead lamps used in operating theaters of hospitals and clinics.
How Does it Work?
According to the Indoor Air Quality Scientific Findings – Berkeley Lab, once the UVGI system is installed in the ducts of heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems, the rays:
“…irradiate the small airborne particles containing microorganisms as the air flows through the ducts. UVGI systems in ducts direct UV light at the cooling coils and drain pans of air conditioning systems. Irradiating the cooling coils and drain pans can dramatically reduce mold and bacteria growth on the often wet surfaces of cooling coils and drain pans. This destroys the microbial films that previously accumulated on the irradiated surfaces.
There are two reasons to irradiate coils and drain pans. First, the mold and bacteria that often grow on cooling coils and drain pans may shed particles into the air that subsequently enters the occupied spaces, posing health risks. This includes risk of non-infectious respiratory health effects. Preventing growth on the coils and drain pans may reduce these health risks. Second, by keeping the coils cleaner, the UV systems may improve the energy performance of the HVAC system.”
Use of UVC Emitters in Commercial HVAC Systems
Installing UVC emitters in a building HVAC system offers a rapid return on investment. It keep your building healthy by improving air quality. The bottom line of your utility bills, repairs and HVAC maintenance is lowered.
One of ABEL’s success stories is found locally with the installation of Steril-Aire UVC Emitters within the HVAC system of a large local church. The building can accommodate over 2,000 people at one time. Thus today those with respiratory issues and allergies can attend services knowing the air is safe and clean.
Steril-Aire UVC Emitter® says their germicidal lamps last longer and they allow higher output than their competition – at all temperature levels.
- 3-4 times longer life: The Steril-Aire UVC Emitter has a 12-month service life…as a result, only Steril-Aire can ensure the germicidal performance you need.
- Independently verified output: Steril-Aire has been independently tested to deliver an average of 6 times the output of other ultraviolet devices under HVAC operating conditions.
- A patented state-of-the-art solid state electronic power supply for enhanced reliability and performance.
- High performance construction, including stainless steel housings with high spectral aluminum reflectors, and thick-wall quartz tubes.
- A full array of lamp sizes and configurations to fit the widest range of applications.
Lives are being saved world-wide with Steril-Aire UVC low cost emitters because these safe, ozone-free systems continuously clean coils and provide fresh air for families, clients and employees.
